My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 18 months
Gender: Male
Color: L&W Tricolor
Weight: 35 lbs
Variety: Bench
Meet the sweet and loving Jake. He lives and loves life to the fullest. Jake is a people pleaser. He loves to be around people and if he can sneak his way into your lap, he will do so. You can tell when Jake is really comfortable because he lays on his back with his paws in the air.

Jake came to his foster family still learning how to be a proper puppy. The foster family has attended puppy training classes with him. Jake learned how to Sit, Shake, Lie Down, Stay, Roll Over -- and even when you do bang with your fingers, he rolls overs and plays dead. His Forever Family should continue with his obedience training. It is a great bonding opportunity! Jake is very treat driven. Most everything he learned (including yard boundaries) have been with hot dogs and positive training.

Want to be his best friend? Throw a ball! Jake enjoys fetching/chasing balls. He is learning to drop them. Part of his growing and learning phase! Jake also enjoys his walks around the neighborhood. His leash manners are improving with every walk.

Although Jake will tolerate dogs for a short period of time, he will need to be the only dog in the house. His lack of structure and socializing before coming into rescue has made it a challenge to live with other dogs. For everyone’s happiness, Jake should be the only resident dog in his Forever Home.

Jake is housetrained. He does fine in the household when he is by himself. Because he is young and energetic, Jake will need a long walk, jog or run if you plan to leave him for long periods of time alone in the house. A tired dog is a good dog! After a good exercise adventure, Jake enjoys laying out on the deck watching people walk by and the happenings of the neighborhood.

Are you looking for a dog to snuggle with you on the couch, in the bed or under the blankets? Do you enjoy a sweet Springer laying in a little ball waiting for your attention? Are you a homebody that wants to bond with a sweet boy? Then Jake is your Velcro Springer!

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Jake.
