ROCKY is not a Woof River pup! He is being cared for by a close friend of the rescue. To receive an adoption application for Rocky please email laurenferrera@aol.com. Lauren is also the person to contact with additional questions. Woof River volunteers will not know the answers.
Rocky is a 1.5 year old, 50 lb bag of hugs and kisses. When he is not snuggling with his foster mom on the bed under the covers with his head on the pillow or sunbathing by the pool in the backyard, he enjoys spending quiet afternoons in his kennel, which he happily trots into before his foster mom leaves for work, day dreaming of milk bones and squeaky toys. While hopping into bed with you at night, he will always leave in the middle of the night (just like a man) to sleep in his kennel along with his favorite blanket.
Besides being the most lovable dog you will ever meet, he also has impeccable house manners, potty trained, knows how to use a doggy door, and is a graduate of formal obedience training. He is a dream on a leash and responsive to commands. He has a medium-high energy level and is ready to go at any moment for a good walk, jog or game of fetch. But just say the word and he is just as content to take a nap with you. No matter where you go he will always be there with you. Sitting on your lap with his paws on your shoulders looking at you or having you hold him like a baby as he falls asleep, you might be confused whether you brought a new child into your house.
Perhaps his favorite companion and past time in the home is his 1 year old “little human sister,” Scarlett, who he enjoys looking after and oh-so-gently accepting any Gerber Graduates she is willing to share. He will also bring his toy to her to play. Rocky gets along wonderfully with some dogs. Other dogs and he just don't seem to hit it off. This could certainly be an issue with the other dogs rather than Rocky. However, we want to be sure that his next family is his forever family so we think a one dog household is the best option for him. Rocky is an incredibly loyal, patient and endlessly sweet companion. He will make a phenomenal addition to one lucky family.

ROCKY and all the Woof River dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.
Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River and our rescue friends are is 100% volunteers.
