Little Mardi is only little for right now! She is the only girl in a litter of 3 puppies who were born and raised their first 5 weeks in the Louisiana Bayou underneath a chicken coup living with dogs, chickens and goats. Their mother is a purebred Great Pyrenees, and we believe dad must have been a Catahoula Leopard Dog based on their eyes and markings. Mardi is the only one with dark eyes. As of March 20, Mardi is 7 weeks old. She will be available for adoption beginning April 1. She is likely to get very large, and so will not be suitable in an apartment or townhome.
Prior to adoption Mardi will have been dewormed, received two rounds of vaccines including one bordatella, and two parvo-distemper vaccines, and will be spayed and microchipped. She will have received a clean bill of health
We are seeking adopters for these puppies who have large breed experience and some familiarity with Great Pyrenees and Catahoula temperaments. Right now these babies are soft, cute, and cuddly, but will grow to be upwards of 75-100 lbs, possibly more, so positive reinforcement training and leadership is essential! They will make excellent family dogs but need to be properly socialized to ensure they do not become overprotective. These puppies definitely need a large fenced yard and ideally an active family.
Mardi is described by her foster family as smart and sassy, completely fearless, and the sweetest thing you will ever meet! She is working on becoming pee pad trained, and beginning housebreaking has started. Mardi is being fostered in a home with other dogs and cats so she is used to both. Mardi would prefer another confident canine brother or sister she can learn from, as she left her mother sooner than we would have liked.
These puppies will NOT be available for viewing unless we receive a completed application and have checked references prior to meeting, simply because the demand for them will be so great.
