It was hard to find a breed to describe Tater (also known as Sweet Tater and Tater Tot) because of her distinctive eyes which are a beautiful, piercing yellow color.  Her ears are also very different - looks like they tried to stand up like a Shepherd and then decided to lay down like the Labrador Retriever.

Tater's date of birth is 4-15-16.  She weighs about 50# and is the size of a typical Labrador.  Tater has the boundless energy of a young dog and loves to play with her brother Bojangles.  She is very reserved and shy of strangers so Tater will need a family who can work with her to bring out her personality and introduce her to all the wonders of the world she has not experienced.

Tater has to be an outside dog at her foster home but she will only be adopted to a family who will make her an inside dog and part of the family.  She is used to a crate and stays in one on an enclosed porch when the weather is inclement.  Tater learns quickly and loves to please so her housetraining should not take long.  She also will need work on her leash training.

Tater lived in a pen with many other dogs.  She is inquisitive about cats but will leave them alone when told to.  She has not been around children but she probably would do well with older children.  She is rather rambunctious and might knock down toddlers and small children.

Tater has been spayed, tested negative for heartworms and has received all of her vaccinations.

About Arkansas Southern Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a caring group of volunteers who formed ASDR to try and save more healthy animals from euthanization. So far in 2006 we have saved over 150 dogs and cats and placed them in loving, caring, responsible homes all over the United States and Canada.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We have an adoption event scheduled every Saturday at Petco in North Little Rock, AR for ASDR dogs located in Arkansas

ASDR will be showing animals available for adoption every Sat here from now on - so if you are looking for your new forever friend please come and hang out with us at Petco. We would love to see you. If you have already adopted a dog from ASDR - bring them along for a reunion!

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in the process is a fully completed adoption application and agreement. Once that has been returned and approved - and we do check all references before an applicant is approved - we can begin getting the dog or cat ready for transport to the new owner. After application approval the pet is taken from LRAS by LRAS personnel to a vet where it is spayed or neutered, given all it's shots, checked for heartworms, intestinal worms and parasites, and generally examined for any other problems there might be. After that is complete it goes into a foster home until transport can be arranged. We do transports all over the US and Canada and costs can range from free, to $125 for a "puppy bus" to the NE U.S., to $400 to fly the dog or cat.
