My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our Molly is a winsome beauty, who longs to connect with her special person. Last Summer, she was found as a stray in Brooklyn, and was brought to the city pound as just one more stray Pit mix. She didn't seem too shaken by the shelter experience, and received positive behavior evaluations, and was quickly put up for adoption.

After a few months, Molly's family gave up on her and returned her to the shelter. It was obvious that they failed to maintain any level of leadership or commit to any training program. And so, the second time around, our shelter contacts diverted Molly to our Rescue, so that we could do a better job at matchmaking for her. Just under two years old, Molly is poised to start her new life.

Good golly, Miss Molly appears to be largely an American Pitbull Terrier, however she has extremely petite features. Our shelter contacts suggest that Molly is part Border Collie. Indeed, she is a tall, lean dog at just 35 pounds. Her short, blue-black coat glistens, and she has white tuxedo markings and "socks." She is quick, lithe and fleet-footed, all making us agree that there may be a little Border Collie in her DNA. This is one Pocket Pittie who has the makings of an agility champion.

Molly is a mix of two extremely powerful and intelligent breeds, so the need for her to receive sufficient exercise and Leadership training is paramount. She needs at least two to three brisk leash walks daily, as well as focused playtime and consistent obedience work. Molly is extremely eager to please, treat motived, and responds well to positive reinforcement training techniques. She has quite easily mastered her basic obedience routine, and is on her way to Canine Good Citizenship. Adopters should be able to continue her training and achieve certification quickly.

Molly has a gentle, friendly demeanor and genuinely loves human contact. She would be a good choice for an active, dog savvy single or couple who can provide the exercise and attention that she needs. Molly is on the laid-back end of the personality spectrum, and while she loves to play, her style is not over-the-top rough-house. Molly would thrive in an active lifestyle that provides alot of action and attention, and in which she can shine as a superstar.

Molly enjoys the company of other dogs, and could easily join a multi-dog home, with proper introduction and training. She has a neutral temperament that could blend into just about any kind of pack. We have not checked her with cats. She has good house manners, and is housetrained and crate trained, although adopters should be prepared to troubleshoot post training accidents during her transition to a new routine. Molly is in excellent health, has been spayed.

Molly has been vaccinated for Rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), She has been boostered as needed. She has had the 4dx test: negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
