Cullen's Story...
Cullen is the sweetest, happiest 1 year old, Terrier/Schnauzer mix. He does not shed a ton, but he is not a hypo-allergenic dog.

Cullen was found in a ditch in Houston, TX. He was unable to move and soaking wet from the rain. It looked as if he had been there for days. A rescue angel found him and brought him to the local animal shelter in hopes that he could get the help he needed. Our rescue was notified and we just couldn't say no to that cute face. He came to CO to see specialists and get an MRI. Months later, we have determined that Cullen has some sort of lower spine injury. We have been doing PT for months now and he can actually walk (well more hop) but he actually goes on hikes with his foster family now and can go on pretty long hikes! And he love them! He is in no pain and continues to get stronger. His will power is beyond anything we have ever seen before.

When his foster first got him, he only dragged his back legs, and now he is a walker and hiker! Cullen needs a home that will be vigilant with his exercise program, and hopefully a physical therapy program that will provide more specific exercises. Although he is incontinent, if he is let our regularly he will go outside and squat and pee and not go in the house. His bowel movements are not controlled but his foster has found that if you take him to understand his "schedule" you can pick him up and hold him over the toiler and he actually goes! It sounds funny, but it works and beats diapers or cleaning up after him. He is still very much a puppy and still has that mischievous personality (chewing if left alone). He LOVES toys and other dogs. We would really, really love to see him go to a home with another dog he can play with all the time. He loves to play tug with the fosters dogs and chase them around the house. He is a cuddler and loves the company of human companionship. He loves to cuddle on the couch with you and needs that closeness from his person. In the end he just needs a special family who understands his special needs. He is such a great guy we know his perfect family will come around and love him.

Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in Boulder, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Boulder.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boulder already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boulder breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue.
