Facts about Franklin

  • Color: White - With Black
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)

**Franklin is currently being fostered in Houston. Unfortunately, meeting him prior to his adoption will not be possible. Franklin’s adoption donation is $500USD, which includes his flight, a new kennel, and he is fully vetted and healthy. Because the flights are so expensive, the adoption donation is non-negotiable.**

Franklin came into our lives when his family moved out and left him abandoned in his back yard. A neighbor called us, concerned about his welfare and we went to check on him. Upon arriving, we found the happiest, sweetest boy, just wondering where his family went. We put him into a foster home where he wowed everyone with is loving personality.

Franklin is a roughly 10-month old American Bulldog. He is currently around 55 pounds and should be done growing. He is not tall, but he solid! Frankie is an active boy would would be best suited for an active family that can give him plenty of exercise and would likely be best placed in a home with a yard. Because many apartments and condos have breed restrictions, it is important to check with any property manager about being able to own his breed prior to applying.

Franklin has done a great job of acclimating into his foster home, he has done well with his house and kennel training. He is also working hard on his leash manners, but is still a young, energetic guy who will require some patience as he continues to develop into an amazing adult companion. Franklin is good with other dogs and would make a great +1 to a family with dogs as long as the family is committed to a proper introduction.

Franklin has met and done great around children who are gentle and loving to animals. Because he is a bigger (and sometimes clumsy) boy, we think a home with older children may be the best placement. He would be a great buddy for some active kids to grow up with! He will make a great running, hiking, and adventuring buddy.

Franklin should be adopted by a family who understands that he will take time and patience as he acclimates into his new life. He may have accidents, chew on things he is not supposed to, and bark in his kennel. It can take dogs a few weeks to properly acclimate to their new lives, so he is seeking a family that can give him this time and work with him on becoming an even more awesome dog than he already is.

Franklin should be adopted by a family who plans to keep him indoors as part of a family - we do not adopt dogs into situations in which they will be left outside for extended periods of time unattended (for example, the entire work day).

Franklin is fully vetted (neutered, shots, microchip). Unfortunately, Frankie’s former family did not keep him on heartworm prevention and he is heartworm positive. He has been started on a slow kill protocol and the rescue will provide the medication he needs to complete his treatment. Aside from this, he has no known health or allergy issues.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application via our website which you can access via the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/

It generally takes our team 7-10 days to fully process applications and we anticipate that adopters will be in a position to pay the adoption donation and take possession of the dog within two-weeks of the application.

About Reggie's Friends-Boston

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process begins with an adoption application. Our team will take some time to review it and once approved, a home visit is required. We require an adoption contract and an adoption fee to be paid prior to the pet joining their new family.
