My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Risa arrived at the shelter (along with Alex, listed separately) after her owner moved away. Although Risa and Alex were left with someone who was supposed to care for him, they were not doing very well with that assignment so the original owner reclaimed the kitties and brought them to us. Unfortunately, Risa suffered from frostbite and had to have part of her left ear removed after she came to us. Don't worry, though, she is now fully recovered and thinks her new look makes her appear wild and edgy, like the feral cats she has heard about. She is hoping for a little leather jacket with chain accents for Christmas this year.

Risa is a beautiful 12 year old orange tabby girl. She is very talkative, and although her previous owner told us she isn't crazy about other cats, she has had no real issues moving among different groups of cats, first in the special needs room with a couple of other seniors, and just recently moving back in with Alex and his new friends Jasmine and Oliver in Room 4. More than anything, Risa wants a person to chat with. She will do fine as an indoor or indoor/outdoor cat, and will fit in well with a single person or senior, or in a busy family full of fun and frolicking children. She's not super energetic, and is content to lounge on a perch watching the proceedings and interjecting her comments from time to time.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Risa is suggested minimum $20 (more gratefully accepted), or she is eligible for the Senior for Senior program: adopters over age 65 may name their own adoption fee (even $0). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
