My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jessie is a 1-year-old spayed female black lab. Jessie weighs 53 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

March 24th - Jessie is settling in to her foster home nicely! Jessie had a blast running around the yard with a ball and bone last night. She's not 100% sure how to play with the other dogs but likes to run around them in circles! She's house and crate trained, loves bones, and after a bit of initial shyness, comes right out of her shell and loves to be petted. She is so funny - spins in circles with excitement when it's breakfast or dinner time. She knows sit and down. She walks pretty well on leash but should use an Easy Walk harness as she is sometimes spooked by loud noises. She's working on figuring out what the TV is all about (where ARE those noises coming from?) and hasn't accepted the invitation to hang out on the furniture yet. She loves to stand or sit in front of her foster mom and get lots of love and scratches.

Jessie is so sweet and so fluffy, and just a peach. She's a little shy at first, but warms up pretty quickly and loves to be loved on. She isn't quite sure what to do with stuffed toys, but half-heartedly chased after a tennis ball when she saw the other dogs do the same. She does love to chew on bones. She is house and crate trained, and goes in with minimal protesting. This sweet little bear is going to make a wonderful companion! Jessie is good with other dogs, did well meeting a cat at the shelter, and is approved for kids 10 and up.

This dog is from rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. For now we are limited placement to standalone, single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from Axe's time spend in foster care, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound.) Adopters must travel to Maryland, or Virginia with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.

Lab Rescue LRCP has between 40 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia, and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates and locations are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. After you submit an application, you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.

An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
