My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

September 2017: This gorgeous and soft boy is 80 lbs of sweet soul! Dag is a five year old chocolate lab who needs a new home because his growing family is too overstimulating for him and he gets nervous when the young children are near his food bowl. He is a loving and sweet boy who craves attention and will attach to one person so he needs a good leader and reassurance that he doesn’t need to be a protector. He likes an outdoor lifestyle and a consistent routine but once exercised he can be a calm and snuggly boy. He loves to run around the yard and walk or hike on trails. He loves to ride in the car, swim, play fetch, and just hang out with his humans.

When our volunteers met Dag he was such an awesome energetic boy. He took to them right away and showed off his smarts. When meeting new people he can be excited and just needs guidance how to greet politely.

Dag lived with two other dogs and was fine with them. He’s never met a cat and we think he’d need some training to be able to live safely with them because he likes to chase critters outside.

Dag was fostered at one of our wonderful doggy day cares and did really well with the dogs and the humans. He was happy to have indoor living and some buddies to play with. Until Dag finds his forever home, he is living with the trainer that helped him get past his minor food guarding issues. Recently, one of our volunteers, who has two Lucky Pups of her own, was working with the trainer to help her younger dog, Murphy, overcome his fear reactivity. And Dag helped! He was the last of several dogs who came out to "test" Murphy on his progress. Dag was a perfect gentleman and respected Murphy's cues who needs a little time to get used to a new dog, but after a short walk, everybody was on a loose leash and getting along. Dag's leash skills are improving and with consistent, patient leadership, he'll continue to do well.

We had a blast with Dag on "Fetch Me a Home" on WCSH6. You can watch the video from our home website, adoptapet.com does not have the capacity to post it.

To learn more about Lucky Pup Rescue, please visit our website: www.luckypuprescue.org. If you have interest in any of our dogs, please fill out the application and we'll work with you to find a great match for your family: http://www.luckypuprescue.org/#!adoption-application/c1aw8.

Please note, we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed, they are cared for in our network of wonderful foster homes throughout New England. If you find a dog you would like to meet, our expectation is that, once approved, you will travel to meet the dog in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
