My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Clifford! 11 months old, 66 pounds, Male

CLIFFORD IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE RICHMOND VA AREA. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CLIFFORD, PLEASE GO TO WWW.MOMSRESCUEVA.ORG AND COMPLETE AN APPLICATION.

Meet Clifford! This gorgeous big red pup is a Vizsla/bully mix and was rescued when he was found alone in a ditch off the highway when he was very young. He was in rough shape, so it took time to get him fixed up, healthy and ready for adoption.  Clifford embraces the characteristics of his breed, which are known as “Velcro dogs” because of the attention they crave. They do best in homes where they do not have to be alone for long periods of time.

Clifford has a sweet, docile nature about him and could use an owner that is patient and has time to nurture and help with some confidence building when out in the world. He depends very much on his people for security and can become anxious when alone. That is why we think he would do best in a home with another canine buddy that is, not too old, his size and playful. His best friend and fellow foster Rocky has really helped him. They do great together, so if there is a family out there with a fenced yard and enough love for both, they could be placed together. Double your pleasure, double your fun!

Clifford is good with other dogs and kids, but because he is a very rambunctious large pup that may leap into your lap at any moment, older children would probably be best. He has not been around cats often so he does like to playfully chase them like he would a dog and may do better in a home without cats unless friendly and dog savvy. He prefers indoors to out, (he feels safer) although he will play a game of chase around the yard with Rocky. He is housebroken and crate trained, but needs some leash work. He’s a curious boy, loves playing with toys but needs to be monitored because he is still very much a puppy and needs supervision. He cannot be left unattended unless crated or confined but is learning good house manners. Clifford needs an owner familiar with positive training techniques because this breed is sensitive in nature. He will need to be placed locally and requires multiple visits and a trial period before he can be placed in a new home.

If you think you might be a match for Clifford or even Clifford & Rocky together, go to www.momsrescueva.org and complete an application.
