VELMA's Story...

VELMA and sister, THELMA, were rescued after being tossed out of a truck in rural Rutherford Co, NC at just 6wo, on what was expected to be a VERY COLD(below freezing) night.

SUPER-LOVABLE and very SWEET little girls, friendly, gentle and happy. VELMA is calm, friendly, easy-going, quiet and thoughtful, a bit more independent than THELMA, but always searching for her 'mama' in every dog who passes their kennel. While THELMA is a lover, a cuddler, always seeking a lap to lay in(bet she got the bulk of touchy-feely by owner's kids/wife)..both responded positively to the grand-kids, & they obviously had been well-cared for; smelled like they'd just been bathed and had very few parasites!

Quite UNusual for young puppies that are randomly dumped on a cold evening!
YET, have you no mercy, past owner?                                                           What if the property owner had not SEEN you do this dastardly deed to these precious young spirits who were too young to be outside by themselves with no shelter? YOU are lazy, self-centered and heartLESS!

We animal rescue grps in the area have been offering low>no-cost spay/neuter for 10yrs, now. Rutherford County has NO shelter for adoptable animals, merely a 'high-kill' Animal Control, run by the 'Solid Waste' Dept, which is located next  to the county landfill. Yep! You get the picture.

Adoption fee: $250 or $450/both(includes spay, micro-chip, 3 puppy boosters, Bordatella and Rabies vax, current on heart worm, flea/tick and internal parasite prevention, health certificate and all medical paperwork from day#1 with Howlin4Spirit-includes vet's surgery notes, 1/2 gallon bag of current dry food).

This pup is in and will remain in foster care in Rutherford County, NC until they have completed their quarantine and recuperated from their spay surgery, at which time they will be transported to their new families via HAPPY DOGS or SAVE THEM ALL rescued pet transport services(licensed and bonded) on SATURDAY/APRIL 29th. Their fee is $100 to all points from western NC to NYC & LI, and $125 to all points N of NYC/LI as far as Manchester, NH and Albany/Syracuse, NY,  to be paid by the adopter directly to the driver at the time of delivery in form of cash or money order,

To apply to adopt VELMA &/OR THELMA, please go to: www.howlin4spirit.org/adoption-application/, then copy and paste the application in to a new email, complete all questions thoroughly and send to howlin4spirit@gmail.com....we look forward to matching you with the right pup for you, your family, environment and habits.

Upon receipt, we will acknowledge your app, review it and begin processing if we feel it is a good match for any of our pups in need of love, respect and a warm place to lay their head.

We will be back in touch just as soon as we have received responses from your 3 personal references and spoken with your vet's office, and property owner/manager, if you should rent.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

VELMA, a Portland Pit Bull Terrier puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Portland, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier puppy from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
