My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jep is a 6 year-old neutered male black lab. Jep weighs 71 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

Update: Apr 19, 2017: Jep seems to be gaining more energy and seems even happier to be with his foster family each day. He is spending less time looking out the window and more time with his foster family. He will rest his big snout on foster Mom's knee when she sitting on the couch and he's on the floor. He is still very eager to get in the car at any opportunity. Jep continues to do well during his encounters with all other dogs on walks and at the dog park. He was home alone for 7 hours today with no problems. Jep is really a fantastic dog. He knows stay and sit and will wait a few feet from the door when his people leave the house.

Apr 12, 2017: Jep is a wonderful boy who is loving life at his foster home. He thinks there is nothing better than sitting by the window and watching the world outside. He's is a pretty independent guy and doesn't need constant attention from his people to be happy. Definitely not a velcro dog. He's done well meeting other dogs on walks; just does a quick sniff and goes about his business. Jep does seem to be quite fascinated by squirrels, but if he sees one on a walk can be easily redirected by his humans. When his people are leaving the house, Jep will occasionally try to join them outside, but he's recently learned to sit patiently at the top of the steps as his people leave for the day. He is always happy to see them when they return, and as long as you put away any yummy food on the counter to not tempt him, he has great house manners.

Apr 1, 2017: Six year old Jep is in his foster home, he couldn't be more perfect! He did great on the car ride and meeting his foster family. He stayed home alone today for four hours and didn't have any issues. He seems to be fully house trained. Jep is a bit unsure of leash walking, but he's learning with practice and loves his walks and meeting other dogs. He enjoys spending time outside and would like a forever home with a fenced yard. Jep is happy accepting appointments at home.

Mar 27, 2017: Jep is delightful, full of personality, he loves to be with you and to get petted. He is an active but not hyper. Hasn't retrieved yet but likes to play with Nylabone's and Kong's. Jep needs an owner who will give the attention, love and exercise he needs. Should have a fenced yard as he is not a dog that will get enough exercise on walks alone.
Kids 10 and up as we don't have history. Good with other dogs has been out with other LR pups at the kennel with no problems. No cat history. Knows sit, come down. Pulls on lead a little when walking would benefit from an Easy Walk Harness

This dog is from rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. For now we are limited placement to standalone, single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from Axe's time spend in foster care, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound.)
