About Paris Animal Welfare Society

About Our Shelter...

The Paris Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S.) is a private 501(c)3 organization, established in 1992, which runs an animal shelter located in beautiful Paris, Kentucky. As a private organization, we are solely dependent on private donations and community support.

Our mission is to save and protect homeless animals through responsible adoptions, to provide humane care for all animals entrusted to us, to advocate for animal welfare, and to enhance the human-animal bond by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people in our community.

P.A.W.S. serves mainly Bourbon County, taking in stray animals and those relinquished by their owners. We are open admission, which means we will never turn away an animal in need regardless of age, health, or behavior issues. Despite being a small organization, we took in almost 1700 animals in 2015. At P.A.W.S., we do not euthanize healthy adoptable animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our shelter is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 12:00 - 6:00 PM and Saturday 12:00 - 4:00 pm.

We have cats/kittens available for adoption every day and dogs/puppies available for adoption on the weekends at the Petsmart in Hamburg Shopping Center in Lexington, KY.

Our Adoption Process...

Puppy adoption fee is $150 - $300
Dog adoption fee is $100 - $300
Cats adoption fee is $35 - $65
Kitten adoption fee is $65 - $90

We have an adoption application but do not require a home visit. All our animals are fully vetted, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before they go to their new home.
