My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pompeii is just a pup and is learning about the ways of the world. He loves his long walks with his foster and is learning socialization skills...he's a very engaging and cuddly guy! At any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count Pompeii in! Spaniel mixes are known to engage joyfully and energetically and then crash on the couch (or on a favorite person's lap) snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines.

Pompeii is a cute as can be.. and a very sweet guy who favors the look and loyalty of the King Charles while taking on the very intelligent and engaging qualities of the Tibetan Spaniel. Pompeii's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Pompeii is friendly (while initially a bit shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a close companion. You know when a loved one approaches, Pompeii's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Pompeii loves to go to cuddle and let you know the level of his devotion.

Pompeii is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Spaniel breeds. At 6 - 9 months old and 11 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 14 lbs when full-grown), Pompeii seems to be in the process of leaving behind the feelings of neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Pompeii in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a forever home that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member.

Pompeii would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Pompeii would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, walking beautiful Colorado trails and even riding shotgun running errands. Pompeii doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs.

As per Pompeii's Texas rescuers: Pompeii arrived the shelter in sad shape. He is a sensitive guy and being homeless and unloved resulted in him losing a bit of hair to dermatitis...for this minor skin issue, Pompeii was slated for euthanasia. Farfel's was immediately contacted by the Texas shelter speaking of what an amazing guy Pompeii is..and that he passed his temperament testing with flying colors. Farfel's Rescue was happy to speak up for Pompeii...having no doubt that he will be a wonderful addition to a very lucky family.

Pompeii is a very engaging and sweet pup that, once over his shyness, will be a loyal and very bonded family member. He has been great with other dogs in his foster home and has quickly blossomed into a great companion for his human fosters. Pompeii is working on his leash skills (and doing better every day) . He has proven that he is very ready for a great home and will bring so much love and kindness to his family. Pompeii has definitely been a shelter favorite and we're thrilled that his sweetness has earned him a ticket to a great new home in Colorado.

Pompeii will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement choice) to keep his coat healthy with a cottony-soft feel. With proper coat care, clean conditions and less stress in his life, Pompeii's coat will grow in healthy and silky-soft.

Pompeii will arrive on transport in Denver on Friday 4/7/17. If interested in this very loving and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
