Hi, I’m Petit Pois, which means “Little Pea” in French. I got my name because I was the smallest in my litter and my foster mama thought of me as her “cute little pea”. I sprouted and now I’m all grown up! I am kind of a lazy kitty, I love to relax, and in fact I’m pretty dang good at it too. I like to have my belly rubbed & my ears scratched, I also like to talk and let you know when I need some loves. I love my humans and I will follow you around so I can be near you. If you are going to sit for a while, I’ll be right by your side showering you with attention and love! Now I am particular and I love my humans so much that I Do Not want to share them with any other furry critter like other cats or dogs. I want my humans all to myself, so I’m telling you now-I want to be your ONLY fur baby! I do also get leery around small humans, maybe 5 yrs. & younger. I like my humans to be mature in their actions with me or I will be very concerned. I am a Happy Cat who loves to rest and lay by my humans. I will keep your feet warm at night, as I like to sleep at the foot of your bed.
I will keep you company & be your Best Fur-ever Companion. I want YOU----Yes, I mean you, to be MY human!! If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at

About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at, email or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
