My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This boy has been waiting a long time to find his forever family. There are so many people he has met along the way that just love him. He is a young boy, a big boy at 73 lbs, who is very intelligent, active and friendly to everyone he meets. He is a dog that needs lots of exercise and mental stimulation. A great partner and companion for someone or a family that wants to make him an integral part of their life.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Joey is happy, easy-going and very friendly. He gets along with everyone he meets and on walks is very keen to meet passers by. He will most likely become attached to one person in the household but gets along with everyone he meets. He already knows a host of commands and tricks and is very attentive but driven. I haven’t had him around children but he is very friendly with everyone he meets both men and women. I would suggest ages 8 and up. We haven’t met any cats yet but he is very friendly and easy going with other dogs.

Joey is very well behaved and quiet around the house. He is fine left on his own without any issues. We do have a crate for him but we don’t close the door however he does go in to sleep at night and seems to enjoy his crate (or maybe it is just that he loves the treat he gets for going in?) He was a little skiddish towards passing cars and squirrels (I find this hilarious). That decreased considerably after one day and being more confident in his surroundings. He adapts very well to change and really after a his first day with us he was already confident and feeling at home. He never barks and hasn’t made a peek in the house since he came to us.

He is very smart and attentive and he catches on very quickly. He already knows sit, down, stay, come, roll over, and is getting better at heeling. He will still pull sometimes when he gets a scent he is really interested in so a little more leash work would be good. He is fully house trained and has never had an accident in our home. He would beg a little for food but soon learned that he wasn’t getting any scraps from us and gave it up. He has never tried to bolt out the door but if you leave it open he will go out 🙂 He rides very well in the car.

Joey was shy at first but he is a sweetheart. He copes well with change and easily adapted to his foster home (within 1 day). He is very tolerant to the other smaller dog living in the house who constantly wants to play. He would be a good family dog with an active family who has prior experience with a big dog. Any owner with an active lifestyle would be ideal for this dog. He finds comfort and attaches to one person (the one who feeds and walks him) but gets along with everyone he meets. Joey is definitely one in a million and anyone who adopts him will be a very lucky owner.
