My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zoey is a very young dog who appears to have had a rough start in life. She is making up for it now! She is a very cute, super affectionate girl however there is obviously some mistreatment in her past life involving very young children and she is still afraid of them to this day. Otherwise she is a happy-go-lucky little thing weighing approximately 30 lbs. She is just over a year old.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Zoey has a huge love for dogs, she finds comfort in being around them. She's very gentle with all dogs, any size. She must have relied on them for comfort more then people in her past. Zoey is timid of things but will come around if you are patient. Whomever adopts her will enjoy seeing a shy little dog coming out of her shell. She is very healthy, maybe even a little overweight :)

Zoey is very affectionate with adults but she LOVES men, especially from what we have seen. She does not however seem very comfortable around young children (we had her around a 6ish young child). She is definitely afraid of them and will growl if they come to close to her. We think she will always be cautious of young kids. Although she is wonderful around other dogs we have not had an opportunity to see how she would be with cats.

In the home Zoey is a very quiet, well mannered little girl. She loves attention and even loves to sit in your lap. We have been working with her on all her basic commands but will needs someone to continue this with her. She is completely house trained. She is also crate trained although we only use the crate for her sleeping at night. If someone worked and wanted to use a crate for her during the day, there would be no issues. She goes in easily and stays quietly until you let her out. You can walk her easily on leash even though she does still pull a bit. She is nervous riding in the car still but is fine if we crate her in the car.

Zoey is a great size and has a beautiful, healthy coat which is great because she loves to cuddle. She would be so happy in a home with another dog. She loves to socialize and play with the other dogs. She is also very quiet and well mannered in the home.

This little girl has not had much of a life but if you think she might be a good fit for your situation, please go to our main website at uglymuttsdogrescue.com and submit an application for consideration.
