Theryn is a sweet, cuddly and friendly 16-week old Lab mix who loves to play in the yard and get belly rubs. She is about 15 lbs, is bright and quick to learn commands and works really hard on leash/potty training and using her crate.
Since Theryn is just over 3 months old, she does need someone to be home with her every 3 hours or so. She has not had an accident in her crate and can sleep through the night from 10pm-6am--currently she is crated at night in her foster parents' bedroom. She often goes into her crate during the day, when the crate is in the kitchen, just to hang out and relax with some of her toys.
One of her favorite places to snuggle is on a large beanbag, where she sometimes sleeps upside down after playing with her chewy dinosaur and other favorite toys. Theryn's favorite treat is from Trader Joe's, the beef liver flavored begging treats--she's quick to sit and wag her tail when she hears the bag open.
She likes meeting other dogs--she is vocal when meeting them but truly wants to play--and people, both women and men. She also loves following around her tiny foster human (a 3-year-old girl) in the hopes that she'll drop a toy for Theryn to chew!
Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies.
Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog.
Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.
We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.
Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
