JONAH’s innate ability to understand other animals and avoid conflict is second to none! He is one of those rare souls who lounges with lazy dogs, plays with playful dogs, and simply walks away if an unhappy dog growls or snaps at him. This sweet soul just wants to keep the peace. When meeting JONAH, the first thing you notice are his kind eyes. Soon after come his handsome/goofy face and his shiny fawn (champagne) colored coat. Once you spend ten minutes with him you are absolutely smitten. His personality is second to none.
JONAH is the perfect combination of laid back lounge companion and gigantic goofball! He is friendly towards all he meets without being pushy or obnoxious. He will cuddle on the couch all day or sit on the floor beside you gazing up at you adoringly. He knows “sit,” goes in his crate without protest, and is totally potty trained in the house. He is 2 years old and 55-60 lbs. He is an excellent car passenger who is thrilled to accompany his folks any and everywhere. He loves to play his foster sister Delta (a 3 year old lab) and cuddle with Gunner (a 9 year old 110 lb and often cranky lab). Two elementary aged human boys live in JONAH’s foster home. He is best buddies with them and can often be found napping in their beds while the play video games. Whether you are looking for a companion or a family dog, you can’t find a better guy than JONAH. He is sure to make you laugh often and love him constantly.

JONAH is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations.
His $450 adoption fee includes his interstate health certificate and the cost of his transport AFTER he is adopted.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions ( and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

JONAH, a Kittery Boxer/Doberman Pinscher dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer/Doberman Pinscher for sale in Kittery, or seeking a Boxer/Doberman Pinscher dog from a breeder in Kittery.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Kittery already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Kittery breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer/Doberman Pinscher breeders who help with Boxer/Doberman Pinscher rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Kittery paves the way for another one to be saved.
