Heather is sweet, kind and meek. She spent part of her life in a puppy mill, so she is very shy and mistrustful with new people. She gets scared easily if a new person reaches for her. At this time, she doesn't like to be touched or held, and she has the potential to run away when she is frightened. But Heather is learning that good things come from people. She loves food and really enjoys having treats tossed to her during shy dog class at the Sanctuary. In fact, food is the way to her heart. Heather was born in 2010. She can go for walks, but she needs to know the person before she can be leashed. Her ideal household will be low-key and quiet. Heather also needs a patient person who understands her shyness, is willing to work with her and can celebrate baby steps of improvement. It would also help Heather to have another dog who is social with people as a good role model.
