My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: This is a courtesy posting for another rescuer. Please do not contact ARRF, as we do not know this pet personally. To meet Cosette, see contact information below.

Cosette is a six-year-old, spayed female Chihuahua who is tan in color. She came into the shelter as a very scared little girl, but a few days around loving shelter workers and volunteers made her realize many humans are wonderful and fun to be around.

Cosette received her name at the shelter because she loves to cozy up with her person and snuggle. Now in a foster home, she gives great kisses and will snuggle under the covers if you let her. She loves her walks and she prances with her little tail wagging the entire time. She is house trained and will go to the door to signal when she has to go out. Cosette rides well in a crate, a dog seat belt, or a dog car seat.

Cosette weighs about 13 lbs, and she does love food, so we have her on a low-fat diet to help her reclaim her girlish figure! She seems to be somewhat food aggressive, but she's also a total lap lover at the same time. She loves playing with stuffed dog toys and she really loves a Kong stuffed with tasty treats. Cosette knows the command to sit, is quite smart, can learn quickly, and she is super treat motivated. She loves a good back scratch, too. Cosette has problems with separation anxiety, probably a carryover from her earlier life when things were not so good for her. An adopter who is home a lot would be number one on her wish list.

Cosette would be a wonderful companion for older adopters. She seems to enjoy children, so visiting kids or grandkids would be fine. She would be fine being the only dog or having an easy-going male dog companion in her new home. She will bring so much love and loyalty into the life or lives of whoever adopts her.

To meet Cosette or learn more about her, email fciaadoptions@aol.com or call 619-466-9137.
