Meet Princess! Princess is an energetic, affectionate and happy girl. She loves to be outside, play in the snow and go on long walks. She enjoys camping and swimming in shallow water, playing fetch with her human and lounging on the couch after a busy day of activities. Her favorite treats include crunchy veggies like carrots, stuffed bones and ice cubes.

Princess’s ideal family is an active one that enjoys the great outdoors as much as she does. They will include her in family activities and have the time to invest in playing with her and training. They live in a home with a yard where she can lounge in the summer sun and play in the newly fallen snow. She can be vocal at noises and passerbys outside, and so an apartment would not be suitable for Princess.

Princess is very cuddly and affectionate with her family and loves new people too. Her family used to take her to the dog park where she would prefer to play with the humans! Although she loves to meet new people, Princess needs help with her manners. She will bark and jump up in an effort to get their attention and pats. She is very good with respectful children. Princess would prefer to be the only pet in the home.

She is medium energy and would do best with two 20-30 min walks per day. She walks best on a gentle leader which helps to minimize pulling, but overall, her new family should be willing to work on leash walking. Although she plays well with other dogs at doggy day care, she can be intimidated by larger dogs while out on walks. She will bark and pull towards smaller dogs. She is fearful of the manhole covers and rain drains (will avoid them), and will bark at skate boarders and motorcyclists.

Princess is house trained and knows sit, wait, lay, twirl, paw. She would benefit from a family willing to set rules and boundaries and use obedience training as a means to drain her energy as well. When her family is away, Princess can be trusted with free reign of the house. As a puppy, Princess was crated during the night and she does well in her crate. She likes if her crate is covered with a blanket so it is like a little cave. She now sleeps at the foot of the bed or on the floor of the bedroom now.

About Fetch & Releash

About Our Rescue Group...

We at Fetch & Releash believe every dog deserves a second chance regardless of age, breed, background, health and/or behavioural issues. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers, and veterinarians, we work hard to find our dogs the loving forever home they deserve.

Fetch & Releash was established in 2016 with a mission of saving homeless dogs. We are 100% volunteer run.

Our dogs come from a variety of different situations and locations such as pounds/shelters, strays, and surrendered pets - both locally and abroad. We provide our dogs with the best care and a chance to find their forever homes by placing them with loving and caring volunteer foster parents. In order to prevent further over-population, all pets are spayed or neutered, age and health permitting.

As a completely volunteer-based organization, we are only able to find our pets their forever homes with the help of our volunteers and donors. Visit fetchandreleash.ca to learn more about volunteering, fostering or donating.

Our Adoption Process...

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application at fetchandreleash.ca. Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 48 hours, please remember we are a 100% volunteer based organization, and many of us have full time jobs outside of rescue. We appreciate your patience.

Once your application has been received, a Fetch & Releash volunteer will contact you to set up a time to speak over the phone. The phone call usually takes about 30-45 minutes. Our priority is to ensure the fit is right for both you and the dog, so ask as many questions as you would like! After the phone interview, we will reach out to your personal and veterinarian references (if applicable), and your landlord (if applicable).

If we determine that you are a potential fit for the dog you applied for, you will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog. If after the meet and greet, you would like to proceed with adoption, a Fetch & Releash volunteer will then contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption committee will then review your completed application and make a final decision.
