DOB March 12th, 2010.
Blackjack is a very sweet and laid-back guy once he gets to know you. He loves to be around his humans (afternoon lap cuddles are his favourite thing!), and he will follow his humans around until they sit down for a cuddle. He can sit for hours and have his cheeks scratched. Blackjack spends his nights bed hoping between his humans, he loves to sleep at the foot of a bed. Don't be fooled by his age, when he is not couch surfing, he is playing with his toy mice, especially the ones filled with catnip, chasing his tail, and he LOVES to play fetch with his pompoms. Blackjack is an avid conversationalist, when prompted, he more then holds up his end of the conversation.
Blackjack is a funny guy and will occasionally burrow under the covers for some serious sleeping time. He will do anything for his favourite temptations cat treats, the package must be hidden well out of his reach, or he will find it at all costs. He is also a catnip enthusiast, he appreciates both the plant and dried version.
Blackjack was surrendered to a shelter when his owner entered a nursing home. He was terrified in the shelter, no one could go near him, he hid from the staff in the tiny trap box until he was removed and placed in a foster home. Once in his foster home, he was happily exploring his new surroundings fairly quickly.
Blackjack is terrified of confined spaces. Adopters will need to get him a large cat or small dog carrier with both a top opening, and side opening. He is a loving sweet guy, that needs to be placed with adopters that understand that he will need some time to adjust to his new surroundings. He also needs cat savvy adopters that understand his cues when he gets overstimulated. He has had a rough time in the shelter and deserves to be treated like the prince that he is! Blackjack is a full figured guy, that will need to continue his weight management regimen.
His foster family shares: "Blackjack is a sweetheart that deserves a loving forever home. He sleeps with my children (ages 11 and 15) every night. During his stay at our house, Blackjack has really come out of his shell. He is a very loving and social guy that will greet you at the door when you arrive. He gets along well with our cat, and has warmed up to our Newfoundland dog and our bunny.
