Hello! My name is Newman.
I am a big lover and great companion for a family or individual. My friends at Dogworks think I am a pointer, maybe retriever or lab mix. I am very smart and I learn what is expected of me quickly.
I am around 6-7 yrs old and a pretty laid back guy indoors but I love to play fetch, tug a war and carry my toys around. I am a pretty big boy. I weigh around 85lb and I am strong but a gentle hearted guy. I just want to be loved!
I am completely house-trained and very well mannered in the home when I am left alone. I already know my basic commands. They say I am the perfect dog except I want to be the ONLY perfect dog in the home.
I love children but I prefer older more relaxed kids since a am a more mature myself.
I have some young friends in the neighborhood where I lived and they come to visit me frequently and we have such a good time! If no one has time to play with me, I will play by myself. After all, you have to make the most of things, right?
If allowed, I love to sleep at the foot of the bed, but I am equally happy to be on the floor nearby, as long as I am close to my humans. In a perfect world, my day would consist of waking up with my humans, having a little breakfast, going for a walk and then returning home to spend the day playing with my besties.
In the evening we could have dinner and relax in front of the TV and maybe if I've been good they'll give me a before bed snack bone. While my world revolves around my people, I don't particularly care to share the attention of my people with other dogs.
I have been around young puppies for a short period of time before. They were kind of interesting. I sniffed them periodically and watched them play a lot. I'm not sure what to make of them, but I was OK with them. I don't, however, care to share direct space with other adult dogs.
I haven't spent any time around cats or other animals, so I'm not sure whether I like them or not. But whenever we are on a walk and I see a rabbit, frog or any other critter I absolutely want to chase them down.
I get kind of nervous of people on bikes or running. I don't know what they are doing, but I don't like it, so I bark and let them know how I feel about it.
