My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Banjo, the sweetest, most terrified dog you have ever met! He has horrible social anxiety outside of his "home", which is his safe place. We're not going to sugar coat it.. this is not a dog that you would say is a little shy, or slow to warm up. This is a dog who is paralyzed with fear any time he is outside his safe place, or when a stranger enters his safe place. He does not walk well on a leash and therefore must have a fenced yard. He jumps a little when he is excited.
So that's the bad. If you have not stopped reading already, let me tell you the good. When he is in my home, or in my fenced yard, this boy is 100% the best dog you will ever meet! He is loving and affectionate with me, wants to snuggle on the couch or the bed, is 100% crate and house trained, is non destructive, not a chewer, not a huge shedder. He loves every dog he meets, he is non reactive when dogs bark or growl at him, he has no resource guarding issues. He is funny and silly, loves to play, loves toys (oh, and socks.. I don't know what that is about but he constantly steals my socks!) He is ok with cats.
We don't know what happened to Banjo before he came to us. We have been taking him to a trainer for some socialization work. He has gotten a LOT better when strangers come inside my house, but outside.. its still a struggle for him.

Banjo needs someone who understands his limitations, and will accept him for who he is. He will never be a dog you can take with you to Woofstock, he won't enjoy going to petsmart to pick out toys, while he would probably love the dogs at a dog park, the people would terrify him. He will be your biggest fan, your most loyal friend, but only at home.

We know its a tall order. We understand people want a dog who can share in all aspects of their lives. Banjo is not the dog for a "casual" adopter. He needs someone committed to loving him even when its hard to do. If you think you might be willing to change this dog's life, please contact his foster mom at the email address below. She would love to talk to you more about this wonderful boy.
Banjo is heartworm negative, neutered and is up to date on vaccinations. Banjo has a microchip that will be transferred to the adopter upon completion of the adoption process.

To find out more information about Banjo or to meet him, please contact the foster parent at: fostermomcarpenter@gmail.com. His adoption fee is $200.
