My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ike & Tina were found along a flooded bayou during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. A Good Samaritan saw them running along the bayou, obviously hungry, exhausted and stressed. Tina was doing her best to protect Ike by barking at the passerby’s but thankfully the Good Samaritan could see past her bark and calmly coaxed them to her. It was soon obvious that they were a very sweet and gentle pair who were only doing their best to survive during the catastrophic storm. The Good Samaritan brought them home, gave them food, water, and a safe place to rest while she called NASPR. We processed Ike & Tina through the Houston SPCA in hopes of finding their family but immediately brought them into NASPR’s care.

Their first few days they did nothing more than sleep and eat. Ike would tremble and Tina would scream if they could not see each other so we made sure they were together at all times. As days went on, they became more confident and the frightening memories subsided. Tina is still the more confident of the pair but is happy knowing that the NASPR volunteers are there to care for them allowing her to go back to being a playful carefree Shar-Pei. Ike is the most quiet and gentle soul. He is so grateful for the volunteers who see to their every need.

Ike & Tina are @ 1 to 1.5 years old and heartworm negative. They survived the hurricane together and with their special bond, we feel it important that they go to their forever home together. They rode out the hurricane and survived the dangerous streets on the days that followed. Can you please give them the loving home they now need?
