My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

4/7/17- My name is Brooklyn! - no longer accepting applications

We are proud to announce that this pup has been accepted into the Arkansas Department of Correction’s Paws in Prison Program. The program is a partnership with animal shelters and rescue groups. Selected inmates, under the guidance of professional dog trainers, work with rescue dogs, teaching them basic obedience skills and properly socializing the animals.

Canine applicants to the program undergo testing to ensure that they are a good candidate and, once accepted, remain in the program for 6-8 weeks. Graduates from the Paws in Prison Program will be provided with their training notebook which contains information about their skills, commands and progress through the program.

My name is Brooklyn and I found myself in a dark place with bars. Before that time I was running the streets with large metal objects that went fast and made a noise at me. Before that I was someone's pet, I was a baby then and they held me a lot and kissed and fed me. They got tired of me one day and left me to run with those big metal things and look for food from people who were not nice. So these men picked me up and put me in a prison. The ladies who volunteer there noticed my pretty coat, my intelligence when spoken to and my need to please. The rescue was called and they helped me get out of prison and then they gave me a test that I guess I passed and I was put BACK in prison. This time it was a human prison where people are kind to me and give me treats and write things in a diary about me and just play and do tricks and oh life is so good. I hear this isn't permanent and I will be sprung in late May. I will make a wonderful friend for you and your family.

I am about 18 months old and weigh 44 pounds.
