My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gloria is a one year old Pit bull mix. She is currently living in a foster home where she's socializing with people and other animals, as well as practicing good doggy behaviors. Her foster mom reports that Gloria is a fun dog. She either wants to play or cuddle. She is doing well with the resident dog in her foster home. They play and sleep together, and will share toys together. They are not eating together but will take treats next to each other. Gloria’s foster mom has been working on her on taking her treats more gently. When over excited she tends to be a bit mouthy. She will do best with a male canine companion. Gloria plays fetch like a champion, and is getting better on the leash. She will need reminders when she gets into her new home. She knows a few basic commands and trains easily as she is food motivated. Gloria did well with the children at a recent adoption event. She shows too much interest in the resident Chinchilla, but she does respect his cage however. It is recommended that small pocket type pets not be left loose around her. If you are interested in meeting Gloria, please submit an application for adoption and her foster mom will contact you.

****Her adoption fee is $295.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
