My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB April 15, 2011.

Beppo is a fuzzy blonde sweetie! He charms everyone with the comically super-serious look on his whiskery face, his easy-going nature, and his regal poses. Beppo loves to be near his people, but he’s not needy. He’s a great combination of affectionate and friendly without wanting to sit right on top of you. Beppo prefers to be next to his family members as much as possible and is always up for petting and scratches (belly time too!). He loves to be groomed and appreciates it when you take the time to brush his beautiful fur.

Beppo loves to chase anything on sticks and strings. After his diabetes was stabilized, he lost a lot of weight and gained more energy. Lately he has been learning to play with new toys. He is always up for play with you and would love a family with time to interact with him and keep him fit. When Beppo meets new people he’s initially wary for a few hours, but always pops out later to investigate and receive attention. In his first few weeks with us, and while dealing with vet trips back and forth, Beppo had a nervous tic that saw him chewing out chunks of fur while grooming. We no longer notice this behaviour and believe he’s settled in.

Beppo is in remission from diabetes, but will always be considered pre-diabetic. He will need to adhere to a strict diet that includes high protein, low carb wet food only. There are a few easy-to-find brands of cat food that you can choose from as long as they fit his nutritional requirements. Diet is crucial to managing diabetes. His new family will have to make sure he stays on his approved foods. It’s easy to monitor Beppo for signs that his blood glucose is too high. You will need to keep an eye on his drinking and use of the litter box. In remission he does not need you to give him injections of insulin or at-home blood tests, but he should have regular vet check-ups. Beppo is well-behaved at the vet and when receiving his injections and tests.

His foster family shares: "Beppo has completely transformed while he’s been in foster care. His lethargy is gone and his playful side has emerged. We are so excited for the friendly, fun-loving Beppo to find his forever home."
