My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chance is a deaf, 11 month old, 60 lb pit/ pit mix. He ended up at a municipal animal control facility after being picked up for wandering and when his owners realized he was there they went up and signed him over. He had been left outside since he was a pup and they never worked with him so he became too difficult for them to manage and they didn't want to bother with him any more. In all that time he had never been given a name "since he couldn't hear it any way." Well, lucky for this guy there is a kind hearted sucker at a local college who pulled him and let him hang out with the vet tech students so his behavior could be assessed. He was good with people, adults and children, and with other dogs. Chance will do especially well with a female canine friend in the home. He remained at school until a CPR foster home opened up and he is now learning the ropes of living in a home. Given that he is deaf he will need someone who is willing to work on training him. Chance sits on command like a boss and the great thing about that is when he sits you have his total, undivided attention which will make it easier to teach him hand signals. This dog is so food motivated he could probably learn to speak German and he is very intelligent so he has an incredible amount of potential. You would never know this guy has suffered any heartache because he is the happiest dog alive.

This dog is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $375 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury, CT adoption center, adopted at an event or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn, MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between noon and 2pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn, MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.
