MEET BERNIE

When our vet told us that someone had left Bernie at her clinic because they did not want him, we could not believe that. We since learned that the family who had him also had six other dogs that were "fighters". Bernie was the kind of dog that got PICKED ON by the other dogs and when they attacked Bernie the owner took him to the vet's office to repair his torn ear but did not want him back when they learned he was heartworm positive.

Regardless of how handsome he is, he was also too expensive to treat and that would not help get him a rescue or a home. So, Diamond Dogs Rescue took him under their wing rather than to see him end up in a shelter.

Bernie completed his heartworm treatment and is doing well, he's completely UTD on all vaccines, is neutered and micro chipped. He is a black lab retriever mix and around 2-3 years old.

Our handsome Bernie is so ready for a home where he won't have to hide from other dogs. You see he LOVES people but does not trust all dogs. He is selective about the dogs he likes and trusts. Because of his past we feel he is best suited as an only dog, or at the very least not have dominant siblings who might not fit well with Bernie. He is currently living in MA with a canine foster sister and is doing very well. Females seem to do best with him

Bernie loves to be loved, has a nice personality, enjoys the company of "his person" and seeks to be with them.

He will be an excellent choice for that person who wants a BUDDY FOR LIFE
