Minerva's Story...
Meet Minerva!
Minerva certainly deserves her name as the goddess of wisdom. This 2 1/2 year old was smart enough to bring her litter of kittens to safety where they were cared for and eventually all found homes. Now she needs a forever home with someone who will treat her royally. Minerva is a friendly, mellow kitty who gets along well with other cats. If you are considering a friend for your feline, Minerva might just be the wise choice!
Come meet Minerva at Petco at Roscoe Square, 3320 N. Western Ave., Chicago. If you'd like more information on adopting Minerva please contact Jenny at JenniferLeeSchlueter@gmail.com or Kaia at kaia@fcacc.org. Her adoption fee of $95 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Minerva, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
