Sailor's Story...

Foster Needed!

This beautiful young approximately 2 yr. old and 17 Lb. Pomeranian boy, Sailor, ended up in a high kill LA area shelter because of an of an animal abuse investigation. He was then rescued from the high kill shelter by Underdog Railroad.

Such a beautiful boy who wants to learn to trust people again, but is having a hard time doing so. A home with another canine companion would be ideal. Sailor will need a low key and patient home with no young children. And, he someone willing to give a lot of time to learn to trust again.

If you have room in your heart and home to Foster or better yet Foster to Adopt Sailor, please complete a URR application! Remember, URR sees to all a dogs needs while it is in foster.

To find out more about fostering for URR or about the URR foster to adopt option, please visit the Underdog Railroad Rescue website for details and to fill out an application.

Once Sailor is able to make it to Portland, be sure to watch for updates about him on the Underdog Railroad Rescue Facebook page.

FOSTER TO ADOPT: This is a great way to get to know your potential forever dog and you are bringing the dog straight into its possible forever home, and that's always a good thing. You get to foster the dog with the intention on adopting if the stars all align. If URR and the FTA decide it’s a match, you adopt the dog! If you decide the dog is not the right dog for you and your lifestyle, we understand, and you would continue to foster until we find his/her forever home. The advantage of getting to spend time with your potential new family member is a huge bonus plus we provide all the pups needs while it is in a foster status.

FOSTER: Want to help save a life. You don't want to adopt, but are happy to provide love, a warm bed, routine, love, a little basic training and trips to the vet and adoption events as needed. We pay the bills (leashes, collars, etc. Toys, food, vet bills). We are always, always in need of fosters.

Every Underdog has been spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, flea/tick treated, de-wormed, and received rabies, bordetella and distemper/parvo vaccines. All dogs have had a recent visit to the vet as well.

Adoption fee is $380

We offer a 10% discount for seniors, veterans and students. All of our dogs are in foster homes. We have an adoption application, we check references and visit your home as part of our adoption process.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sailor, a Portland Pomeranian dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pomeranian for sale in Portland, or seeking a Pomeranian dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pomeranian breeders who help with Pomeranian rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
