My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little lady was found abandoned in a small rural town in north Florida. She was picked up by Animal Control in the middle of a public street and it is thought that her hind end was grazed by a passing car. She had some significant scrape marks and was a bit unsteady for a while.
Juanita stayed in a small kennel at Animal Control and waited for her people to come get her. She waited patiently for 3 weeks in unfamiliar surroundings, where the dogs that don’t find a home are euthanized to make room for others that will be brought in as strays or simply unwanted.
No one ever came for her.
Lucky for her though, she was rescued and brought into a foster home to recover from her injuries and prepare for adoption into a new family.
The vet that Juanita saw for her wellness exam thinks that she is around 10 years old, but wears those years a little more ruggedly because she was not very well taken care of up until now. The vet discovered that Juanita has Diabetes that was very obviously left untreated and might be the reason that her sight is impaired.
Juanita receives tiny insulin injections daily, gets 3 square meals, and an evening walk now. She is happy and alert and does not let her vision impairment slow her down. She navigates around the house and the other dogs, and wriggles into her rightful place when snacks are being doled out.
Juanita is compact and portable at only 7lbs. She gets along just fine with other dogs and is people friendly. She is housebroken and will let you know when she has to go out.
