Sesame's Story...
*Cozy Cat Project* Sesame and 12 of his family and friends were left behind when their person moved. They are extremely affectionate and were desperate for love and attention. Neighbors were feeding and watering them and they were able to go in and out of their abandoned home through a ripped screen. That is no kind of life for this loving crew of cats. Sesame gets along with both cats and dogs. He would do well with a family who wants a lap cat. We have vetted Sesame: he's up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeL. dewormed, treated for parasites and free of fleas. She is spayed and given a rabies vaccination. Because there are so many cats in need of care this winter we are asking only $25 to cover the microchip in hopes to place her so we can bring in another cat in need. An application must be completed to be considered to adopt from Stray HELP. If your application is approved we conduct a home visit for final approval of adoption. To view more pictures of cats and kittens in our program go to: We raise our rescues in foster homes and are familiar with their individual personality. They are accustomed to people, phones, radios and tv; all the noises of home life. We work with perspective parents to find their perfect match.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sesame, a Fishkill Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Fishkill, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Fishkill.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fishkill already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fishkill breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fishkill paves the way for another one to be saved.
