My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kasia is an 9 year old shihtzu interviewing for her perfect person. She was brought into Chicago Animal Care and Control because her family could no longer afford her. While there her one eye was removed. Her remaining eye has chronic dry eye common to the breed so she will need life long eye care including daily's drops and salves. She sits nicely for her eye care that she gets 3 times a day. Kasia is a friendly and fun little girl. She loves to do play bows with her family and is overall amazingly happy. She is fine with other dogs but really isn't interested in engaging with other dogs, although she does seem to like a few of the boys she has met!! She does enjoy engaging with her human. She would do well as an only dog or at another very low key companion. While in our care she was diagnosed with an autoimmune blood disease. Autoimmune can be anything from an allergy to arthritis to anything in between. She was treated with steroids and antibiotics. Her blood tests have come back perfect and she is doing great!. Several vets have told us it may never recur. However, if it could recur she needs a family that is attentive to her should it recur so they get her treated immediately. We are looking for a person that will feed only high quality food and feel they will continue her on the raw diet that we believe has restored her to perfect health. She is relatively quiet but does have a sharp bark when she wants your attention so a home might be a better choice for her. Kasia is fully vetted, micro chipped , and heartworm negative.Because of her IMHA she can no longer get any more shots per a letter from the vet given to her adopter. If you would like to know more about Kasia, please email us at RescueTailsAnimalWelfare@gmail.com. We are an in home volunteer foster based rescue with full time jobs. Please be patient as will will try to contact you within 48 hours. We do in home visits and cannot manage adoptions outside the Chicago metro area. Thank you !
