found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Basil embodies why adopting an older dog can be so rewarding. In his first few days he was scared and unsure. Slowly but surely over the past week he has begun to BLOOM. From the first time he ran with his pack mates to slowly coming over more and more to be pet or sit in a lap, it is magical to watch him feel safe, and come alive. He is still shy but every day we are seeing his little personality more and more. Basil will be a very special little companion for the person that gives him his forever home.
He is incredibly gentle and quiet in the house. He is sweet with children and adults - he is very shy but does not have a mean bone in his body! He is currently being fostered with 9 other dogs of ALL sizes! and he gets along with every dog in the house. He will cuddle up with the other small dogs in tiny dog beds and follows the bigger dogs around. He even tolerates the overly enthusiastic (and hyper) puppy in the house. He has no resource guarding issues (he shares treats, food, water and toys with no issue). He appears to be housebroken - as he has not had any accidents in his crate or otherwise. He goes to the bathroom outside on grass (not on a wee wee pad). We are yet to hear him bark as he is pretty quiet in the house. He does not seem to really understand how to walk well on the leash but we are working on that. (We will update on that!) With a little more confidence and a few more pack walks he will learn. He is crate-trained and sleeps in his crate at night with no issues. He has a little stuffed monkey he has come to love but strongly prefers a human to cuddle with up. There is something so sweet about seeing him relax in a warm lap ….
He is missing some (or many) teeth so he likes his dry food crushed up. When you bring his bowl to his crate his tail wags SOOO fast and he looks sooo excited to eat! He takes treats gently and will begin clicker training this week now that he is getting a little more confident!
His one eye is a bit smaller than the other but is currently on drops to help improve that. Basil is so bitty - he is approximately 8-10 years old and only 5 lbs. We think he looks like a little adorable mouse - and is perfect just the way he is!

**Please note that our dogs may be located in foster homes around NJ and the NYC area. It would be a great help to us if you can pick up your dog from transport, which is centrally located from Northern NJ and NYC, or foster home.**
**PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN YOUR INQUIRY** We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them. Please do not submit an inquiry if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process.
Our adoption fee is $475. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses.
All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where it is kept for a minimum of 2 weeks for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. After the 2 week quarantine time they are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. They are then placed on the website. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested in it, we make arrangements with the waiting foster to pick the animal up from the airport to then meet with the potential adopter. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
