Firely is a pretty champagne. Why is she called Firefly the Porpoise? Well, she came in with an unpronounceable name. We renamed her to Firefly. THEN we learned how she loved to splash in the water bowl. Thus, "the Porpoise" was added! She's a nice little girl otherwise, and you'll get LOTS of help whenever you need to wash the floor!
All FACT ferrets come with current canine distemper and rabies vaccinations. Most are also microchipped for permanent ID. They are trained to use newspaper. We do not recommend ferrets to families with children under 6 years old.
Thanks for planning to adopt your next pet!

About Ferret Association of Connecticut

About Our Shelter...

FACT has been in operation since 1991. When we began, there was no other shelter for ferrets in New England. Now many more animal control and spcas will take in and adopt out ferrets, however, we offer ferrets and adopters specialized, extensive knowledge.

Come Meet Our Pets...

You can see our adoptable pets on our website,
Please contact us for an application first. We do not have "open hours" and work primarily by appointment.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an in-person interview. Our application is intended to help guide the interview, so we can help make sure a ferret is the right pet for your family and discuss food and care requirements.
We have a standard adoption contract that states if for any reason the adopted ferret must be given up, it is returned to us.
Our adoption fees are based on the age of the ferret and range from $50-$75. Pairs that must stay together are discounted.
Since nearly all ferrets sold locally came from pet stores and are already spayed/neutered, we do not get litters of babies into our shelter.
