My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh Hai! My name is Comet and I want to be your adventure buddy! I am very shy around new people, but as long as you are committed to being patient so I can trust you, I will entertain you with my happy woofs, my wagging tail and my derpy smile!

I would love to find an active home with another dog as I am still figuring out how great it is to live inside and not be tied up, but I need a role model to help me feel brave. My favorite place to go is the dog park, so please take me there a lot! My foster home tells me I am a very good boy in the car and walking on a harness. I really don't like things around my neck or being contained in a crate so as long as you have a fenced yard and I can lounge on your couch when you're gone, we'll be set! At night I sleep where I want, and I usually pick the foot of the bed or the dog bed on the floor. My foster home has a dog brother I like to adventure with and a cat I am very respectful of. They don't have children and I have enjoyed meeting kids, but I would prefer to live with older children who can give me some space if I need it, and who understand that sometimes I forget my manners and accidentally mouth a little when I'm excited.

Comet is estimated to be 2 years old and 44 lbs. Since we don't know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don't know who mom and dad are!), we are just guessing on breed.

All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer, are treated for fleas, have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting this dog please fill out the pre-adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and we will get back to you to arrange a meeting in the foster home.

We are also having an adoption event at R&D Bio-techne, located at 2001 Kennedy St NE Minneapolis 55413 on Saturday, August 5, from 12-2pm. Please bring a copy of your pre-adoption application.
