Here's what the humans have to say about me:
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. Puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter.
Izzy, at only 12 weeks old and 8 lbs (estimated to be full grown at approximately 18 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this engaging and very sweet puppy...they rescued Izzy just in time.
Izzy is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her vetting and temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Izzy is a very striking puppy...with a gorgeous baby coat that will be silky-shiny (after a sudsy bath) with the purest of black with just a touch of silver running through it.
Izzy is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and willing...very typical of the cross of Terrier breeds. Izzy is also a very happy go lucky and loving puppy...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Izzy is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy socialization class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.
We're open to Izzy finding her forever home with a retired couple or family with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young puppy. Izzy enjoys children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.
Izzy will be up to date on her vaccinations, however her age prevents her from being spayed in Texas. Farfel's will be happy to pay for Izzy's spay and microchip upon her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. This will be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy, spayed/neutered and fully-vetted puppies.
Izzy will arrive on transport in Boulder on Saturday 4/15/17. If interested in this sweet and engaging puppy who will grow into a true best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
