My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Salem, and I am an affectionate, outgoing, and playful Bombay/ black DSH mix boy who was born in September 2016. Like most Bombay mixes, I have a soft, sleek, and gleaming coat that is like black patent leather. I also have the Bombay mix's mesmerizing round copper-penny eyes that look right through you and make your heart melt. Like Bombay mixes, I have a long, lithe, agile body despite my deceptively heavy, muscular body.
I love to cuddle in my foster meowmy's lap because I'm a bona fide lap kitty. You shouldn't be surprised because Bombay mixes are often called 'Velcro' cats because they bond so closely to their humans. Plus I get along with all the other foster cats and little dogs here in my foster home.
I have the cutest little white whisker above one of my eyes. That is how my foster meowmy tells me apart from the other gorgeous black babies whom she has. I was found all alone as an orphan stray kitten, but I am lucky Buster's Friends LOVES black kitties! My foster meowmy rescued me from a shelter, and we all know what happens to black cats in shelters!
As much as I love my foster home, now it's time that I find a home to call my own. Won't you be the one who gives this little chip of onyx my lifetime home? I hope you come to meet me so I can turn on my purr motor when I sit in your lap!
Please don't be superstitious of black cats! You know, Groucho Marx once said, 'A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere.' Buster's Friends makes a concerted effort to rescue black cats and kittens from shelters because they are five times more likely to be euthanized than any other color of cat. However, many people who have had a black or Bombay mix cat before end up adopting another one because they seem to have such wonderful personalities and are emotionally stable and well balanced. To find out more about Bombay mixes, watch the attached 2-3 minute You Tube video that appeared on Animal Planet or Google 'Cats 101 Bombay.'
Salem is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for his indoor-only home. No de-clawing permitted. His adoption fee is $125 for kittens 9 months old and younger, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Please click the contact button if you are interested in Salem, and we can let you know exactly where you can meet him.
