About Eaton County Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

We are a small, volunteer based humane society. We have 1 full time employee, all others volunteer time to our shelter.

Most of our animals come from animal control. We pull them before they are scheduled to be euthanized, provided that they do not have any severe temperament issues, then find them the homes that they are so deserving of. We are very passionate about animals and do not feel that there are "bad" animals!

We are constantly looking for volunteers to help around the shelter with cleaning and caring for the animals. We also look for volunteers to come walk our dogs and help get them seen at our pet adoptions.

Additionally, we are also in need of board members; passionate animal advocates who are willing to contribute their professional skills allowing our board to grow and thrive.

Our Adoption Process...

In order to ensure our animals are a good match with prospective adopters, our screening process includes a pre-adoption questionnaire to clearly understand the adopters' home and lifestyle. Each adopter is screened by the adoption counselor, carefully considering the information provided in the questionnaire. If approved, the adopter completes and signs the adoption contract.
