Who could refuse a face like that?! Marley is a 2 year old Lab/Pit mix who is patiently waiting for her furever home. She has spent nearly 2 months here at the shelter with us, and has really nailed down her commands. She knows Sit, Stay, Drop it, Leave it, and Fetch (which she LOVES to play!). She does well with other dogs, but would do best in a home without small children (as quick movements can scare her). If you have any questions about Miss Marley, please contact the shelter at 740-314-5583

Act quickly to adopt MARLEY. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

About Jefferson County Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
