My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spike is a really sweet, good-natured, happy dog who is about 3 years old and weighs 40 pounds. He was brought to a local shelter as a stray. He quickly became a shelter favorite because he was so very sweet and gentle. Spike is very submissive, gets along with other dogs, and loves to play with them.He also likes toys and chew bones. He rides well in the car but needs encouragement to get in the car. Spike is learning the ropes at his foster home and is getting used to the crate which he does not like too much. Spike loves people, is very eager to please, learns quickly, and will follow any human who gives him attention. He is also very sensitive so positive reinforcement will work better than harsh words. Spike is an active dog and would do best in a home with another playful dog or an owner who is active.

We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be spayed or neutered, on heartworm prevention, and be primarily inside dogs or we will not consider your application to adopt. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.
