My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beta would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for a loving and loyal lap dog. At just about 18 - 24 months old and 12 lbs, Beta is so portable that he can be a full-time best friend accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and very sweet dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments, as well as so very cute, end up in urgent situations. It just doesn't get much cuter and sweeter than Beta. It's difficult to tell, but once Beta gets his first bath and grooming, he'll be the most handsome guy around. Once his matts are gone and his coat is fluffy, Beta will emerge with a new-found sense of confidence and self-esteem.

Beta was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal New Mexico shelter if kind rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is awesome with so much life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family.

Beta, being newly rescued from a very challenging life, is a blank slate waiting to learn about his world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement group training class, Beta can have great behavior and be a very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart!

Beta may be frightened initially after transport since rehoming is scary ..but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine We envision Beta with loving and kind retirees...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that Beta is a needy guy..he just loves the company of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits.

Beta appears to like children...but we would only be open to older, dog-crazy kids who can be gentle and understanding that August is a small guy and needs soft and gentle handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery, Beta would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk, fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air, so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then, maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people.

Beta appears to be a non-shedding guy..but we would never swear to it. He will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and matt-free.

We've requested that Beta be neutered/microchipped prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Beta's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Beta will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/22/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving guy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
