My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dear potential forever family,

Hi, I’m Ryder… a sweet, yet shy buddy searching for a patient and loving forever parent. I am about three years old and just 12 pounds, which should be the right size for you to carry me comfortably. I LOVE to be held like a baby, doted on, and by your side as much as possible. I am not very independent and will do best with an adult family who is home more often than not and can provide a calm living space. Even though I am friendly, I can become scared of new things so it’s best not to be in an unpredictable home or with kids. Nice dogs and cats are perfectly ok with me, but I am more of a people’s buddy. I love to be the center of attention and will ask for a hug or to be held at every chance. In the last week or so, I have enjoyed playing more with my foster sis and have a lot of fun running around with her. I am still not comfortable going on walks though and will tremble with fear and ask to be picked up once I have done my business. It is baby steps for now while I learn the ropes of some of the “typical” things dog buddies do. Enclosed outdoor spaces make me much more at ease and I will zip around to get my energy out. I will do really well with a pet parent who has an enclosed yard for us to play in. It is essential my pet parent is patient to help me learn to trust and feel secure. Doing too much too soon will cause me a lot of anxiety so please only apply if you are willing to go slow with me while encouraging my learning in a steady fashion. If you are willing to do that, then I have no doubt we will be two happy peas in a comfy pod!
