Marley's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Marley's Story...
This sweet boy was rescued from a Lufkin shelter. Marley is approximately 18 months old. He is current on vaccinations and neutered. He is heartworm positive and began treatment on October 28. He is a sweet boy and is getting along with all the other dogs and cats in his foster home. He seems to be crate trained and housetrained.

Foster Update 10/28/08:

I just picked up Marley from his first set of heartworm treatment. The vet said he did fantastic! Staying in his crate will not be easy on him!

Foster Update 10/25/08:

Marley joined our home about a week ago and is definitely a dog with a true golden heart! His gentle nature comes out when he is around our own golden and cat and even with two kittens my children found abandoned in a field.  He is 18 months old, house and crate trained and seems to be most content when sitting next to us in the family room.  He gets along wonderfully with children and is is very eager to please. He knows some basic commands such as come and stay, but we are still working on sit and down. He has such an easy disposition that he should pick up these commands in no time! He is neutered, but has tested heartworm positive and will begin his treatment Tuesday, October 28.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Marley, a Houston Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Houston, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
