Joel's Story...
Jennie and Joel lived together with their rescuer, and Joel is learning to trust humans thanks to her. Sue reports, "Joel is a poodle mix, neutered male about 1 to 2 years of age. He was found as a stray in Phoenix; his people never came to claim him. He severely matted and emaciated when he was brought into the Phoenix pound. Joel was rescued by Annie's Rescue Ride where he was fostered for about 10 days. During that time, his true personality came to shine through. Joel is a very smart, sweet and gentle little guy. He startles easily and can be a bit skittish. But once he knows you are not going to hurt him, he is complete love bug. Joel walks like a dream on a leash, does well during car rides and is crate trained. He is mostly housebroken, but he will most likely need a refresher course once he is in his new home. He gets along well with other dogs, but mostly just ignores them. He has not been cat or child tested. Mostly, Joel like to be with his person since he attaches very quickly to people who are kind to him. His ideal home would be a quiet with people who can shower him with love."

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joel, a Meridian Mixed Breed (Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mixed Breed (Small) for sale in Meridian, or seeking a Mixed Breed (Small) dog from a breeder in Meridian.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Meridian already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Meridian breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mixed Breed (Small) breeders who help with Mixed Breed (Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Meridian paves the way for another one to be saved.
