My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET LILYHEART!

This beautiful, adorable, sweet girl is named Lily! Lily is a 30 lb. Border Collie mix who is roughly 10 years old. Lily was seized by the humane law enforcement along with three other dogs as part of a cruelty/neglect case. Lily was lucky enough to land a loving City of Elderly Love foster home where she has really started to blossom. She's now ready to find the perfect forever home!

We'll only focus on Lily's sad history for a minute to help explain some things since there's no point in dwelling on the past when your future is so bright! Unfortunately, Lily and the other dogs (who are most likely all siblings) were living in a very small home where they were not allowed outdoors for what may have been their entire lives and where they had very little access to food. All of the dogs were emaciated. There - done! Lily has put on a healthy amount of weight and is slowly, but surely embracing her new life. She's now living with another dog and really seems to enjoy spending time with other dogs! She is also living with cats and gets along with them great (basically ignores them). Lily is also living with an older child who is respectful of her need to acclimate to new people at her own pace. She would likely be happiest in a home without small kids. Lily's favorite things to do are snooze in her cushy dog bed (and will even share it with her canine foster brother), sit next to her foster dad while he plays the piano for her, go for walks and spend time outside and pose for adorable photos - obviously!

Though Lily is so sweet and really LOVES attention, she hadn't had much exposure to life outside of her little bubble before coming to COEL so she can be shy and nervous in new settings. Once she has acclimated, she'll roll over for you and ask for belly rubs! She can be a bit anxious on walks while taking in the busy city streets and hustle of bustle going on around her. We think Lily might be happiest in a home outside of the city where life can move a little slower. Because Lily hadn't been able to go outside at all previously, she is still learning what it means to be housebroken. She is completely crate trained and will not have accidents in her crate overnight or while you're at work and will do a little dance once she comes out cause she knows its time to go outside for a potty break, but does still occasionally mark in the house. She will need a patient, understanding adopter who will be able to help her completely recover from her history and transform into the confident girl we know she can be! Besides, Lily will definitely reward her new family with TONS of laughter and love. Could it be you?

Lily is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. She also recently had her teeth cleaned at the vet so that they're nice and pearly white again! Interested in adopting her?
